Hundreds of State of Illinois Jobs Could Move to Springfield

Logo

A state agency survey shows nearly 400 state jobs could be relocated to Springfield from elsewhere in Illinois.
The Department of Central Management Services survey asked state agencies to report on where their jobs are located and the potential to move them to Springfield. The survey found 386 jobs could be relocated to Springfield. About 270 of those jobs are filled and about 120 are vacant.

The (Springfield) State Journal-Register reports the survey was sparked by the belief that former Gov. Rod Blagojevich moved hundreds of state jobs out of Springfield.

Jimenez says the process would entail relocating a job to Springfield if it becomes vacant so families don't have to move.
