Legislation Would Allow Illinoisans to Report Potholes on a Website

Images

Illinoisans may soon have a place to report potholes.

The Senate unanimously passed a bill creating a new website where drivers can log potholes and other road dangers in Illinois. It's sponsored by Senator Dan McConchie of Hawthorn Woods.
"For a number of years now, Chicago has had a website where people could report potholes that were going on that they had discovered. This has worked very well for the City of Chicago to be able to identify where problems are in the streets. I think we need to take this Chicago program and expand it statewide."

The reports would then be forwarded to the appropriate I-DOT district or local government.

The measure still needs House approval.
