SIU-Edwardsville Chancellor Randy Pembrook announced Tuesday he will retire from his leadership position by June 2022.

The Metro East native returned to the campus where he had earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees to become the ninth chancellor in SIU-E’s history on August 1, 2016.
SIU System President Dan Mahony issued a statement congratulating Pembrook on his 30-plus years in higher education.

Mahony says the national search for a new chancellor will begin with the hiring of a search firm and a series of town halls to gather feedback from the SIU-E campus community on what qualities the next chancellor should possess.

He hopes the SIU Board of Trustees can vote on his recommendation by this December.
